MDDN 241: Concept Ideas

For the concept stage of this assignment, I wanted to have a basis that all my concepts would come from. The idea of refined crystals, gems and jewels interested me because depending on how the light hits them a different shade of the colour can generate from a single colour. Above are some brief drawings of the typical shapes that that refined crystal can come in from the stereotypical diamond form to the the crystal formation that resembles quartz or topaz, as well as a refined bar. The use of light and the reflective shadows crystals create when they hit the light make crystals an interesting start point for concepts. The shadow isn't a typical dark shadow shown by normal shapes but creates a shadow that nearly displays the same colour and light of the crystal. In the concepts i plan on using a crystal of different shape or material to be the 'core' of the object that is the end product of a process that develops through material and shapes.
